The anesthetic used in your treatment may cause your lips and tongue to be numb for several hours after your appointment. Avoid chewing and drinking hot foods and beverages until the numbness has completely worn off. It is very easy to bite or burn your tongue while numb, and you can cause significant damage to your mouth without realizing it.
You will probably experience some sensitivity to heat, cold, and pressure after your appointment. The injection site of the anesthetic may also be sore. You can relieve pain and discomfort with mild pain medications such as Ibuprofen, Tylenol, or Aspirin. If sensitivity persists beyond a few days or increases, contact Pantops Prosthodontics at 434-977-9836.
You can chew on your fillings as soon as the anesthetic wears off. Your restoration is fully set by the time you leave our office.
